Marion Jones is widely considered to be one of the greatest athletes of all time. She became the first woman to win five medals in a single Olympics when she won three gold and two bronze in the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney, Australia. She was sentenced to six months in jail for perjury and began serving that sentence in March 2008. The scandal covered over 20 professional athletes yet Marion was the only athlete to serve a prison sentence. Marion voluntarily chose to return her medals, take full responsibility for her actions, and apologize to her fans around the world. In 2010, just four months after the birth of her third child, Marion used her resolve to make an impressive come-back to competitive sports, whipping herself back into basketball shape and earning a roster spot on the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock.
